Our Strategic Plan
Our Strategic Plan 2025-2030 is more than a document.
It is our North Star for the next five years and beyond — a call for everyone to embrace a shared vision for Healthier People, Healthier Communities. Thriving Together.
Strategic Plan 2025-2030 answers the question ‘What is Southern Health-Santé Sud working towards and how do we intend to get there?’ It provides a remarkable opportunity to make a difference, to do what’s needed to improve our systems, services and spaces and to collaboratively align our efforts to achieve meaningful outcomes for our communities.

Seen as healers and protectors, trees serve as powerful symbols in cultural traditions for many communities. Like the tree, Strategic Plan 2025-2030 brings to life our Vision, Mission, Core Values, Strategic Priorities and Foundational Principles.
Together our Values, Vision and Mission are constant and weave a picture of Southern Health-Santé Sud’s aspiration for the future. They define our identity as an organization and guide the decisions, behaviours and attitudes for which we are all accountable.
At Southern Health-Santé Sud
We work every day looking forward to a future where all can flourish, our Vision…
Healthier people.
Healthier communities.
Thriving together.
Thriving is about “we”. We seek out the wisdom of everyone to drive meaningful change and innovation. By threading our ideas together and strengthening our partnerships to achieve health equity and collective well-being.
We work every day keeping our Mission at the forefront of everything we do…
Partnering with our communities,
we provide safe, accessible and sustainable
people-centred health care.
This requires us to listen to and learn from each other sharing our voices and seeking to understand different perspectives. In the spirit of “Two Eyed Seeing”, we are exploring and discovering ways to weave both Indigenous and Western ways of being while working together to address our collective challenges.
We work every day inspired by our shared Core Values.
Uncompromising INTEGRITY
We build trust through accountability, authenticity and responsiveness in everything we do.
Healing COMPASSION
We empower hope for the whole person, being there along the journey with kindness, generosity and empathy for another’s reality.
Pursuit of EXCELLENCE
We put forth our personal and professional best in our commitment to the highest standards of safety, quality and service.
RESPECT for All
We commit to inclusion and equity, and embrace diversity of culture, traditions, identity, ability and thought.
Purposeful INNOVATION
We courageously create new opportunities and collaboratively generate solutions for a sustainable future.
Five enduring core values underpin all our actions, relations and decisions. Our core values easily align with the Seven Sacred Teachings — a guide to living in connection with each other, with Earth and with Creator. When Indigenous people talk about doing something “in a good way” it is about using these teachings. The Seven Sacred Teachings are: Love, Truth, Wisdom, Respect, Honesty, Courage and Humility.
We work every day with a genuine commitment to uphold our overall direction and Strategic Priorities.
Safe, Positive Patient Experience
Healthy Empowered and Thriving Workforce
High Performing, Sustainable Health Services
Our strategies embody a dedication to ensuring the well-being of both health care workers and the people they serve. Central to this is our resolve to build a more equitable, accessible and sustainable healthcare system for all.
We work every day steadfastly integrating our Foundational Principles and into all aspects of what we do.
People-centred Care
Truth and Reconciliation
Intentional Engagement
Connectedness and Alignment
Critical to our entire strategic plan we have identified four foundational principles that ground us and shape how we approach everything we do. Our foundational principles cut across all priorities to advance the goals of health care, health equity, and the improvement of the whole system.
