Resource Speakers

Darryl Taylor, Knowledge Holder

is a Santee Dakota from Dakota Tipi First Nation and an Indigenous Heritage Consultant.
Darryl’s interest in herbs and medicines led to him receiving a horticulture degree
from Assiniboine Community College and a certificate from Circle of Reconciliation
in guiding and facilitating trusting, meaningful relationships between Indigenous and
non-Indigenous peoples. Darryl is an addictions counsellor with the Compass Program.
Darryl has one daughter and is honoured to be presenting traditional teachings
alongside her for the first time.

Kayla Taylor, LPN

is a Dakota Tipi First Nation community member, supporting her son in attending pow
wows as a Traditional Dancer and also has experience as a champion fancy shawl
dancer. She was raised with the Dakota culture and attended many pow wows and
ceremonies. Kayla beads & sews regalia and ceremonial items, as well as incorporates
Dakota culture in her daily work. As an LPN graduated from Assiniboine Community
College in 2018, she is currently a maternal child health nurse program coordinator at the
Dakota Tipi Health Center working with parents and children 0-6, prenatal and postnatal
in a home visit program. Kayla supports families to strengthen bonds, encouraging
growth and development with resources and provides child immunizations.

Who should attend?

All staff are welcome to attend this lunch and learns series. 

No registration needed. Open to all who may want to join this 1-hour education.

  • Participants will need access to a computer with speakers and a microphone in order to participate virtually.
  • On the education day, you can join the meeting thru this link.
  • Certificate of attendance will be provided to who will participate in the survey after the session. Survey link will be provided thru TEAMS chat.
