World Suicide Prevention Day | September 10th
Canadian Mental Health Association is joining communities across the country in recognizing World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10 and marking September as Suicide Prevention Month.
Every year, approximately 4,500 Canadians die by suicide, that’s an average of 12 people dying by suicide each day. These deaths are preventable, and awareness is a vital first step toward saving lives.
To support those in crisis, Canada’s national suicide crisis helpline, 9-8-8, offers free and confidential support by call or text, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
This World Suicide Prevention Day, Canadian Mental Health Association encourages everyone to take a moment to learn about 9-8-8 and share it widely. You never know who might need it. To learn more about 9-8-8.
By recognizing and remembering 9-8-8, we help build stronger, more responsive communities.
